ABOUT

Big Band Jazz Trumpet Legend and Jools Holland Sideman Jon Scott started his career at as Lead Trumpet in the Orchestra of the Sporting Club of Monte Carlo where he stayed for 2 years backing artists including Sammy Davis Junior and Michael Jackson.

He left Monte Carlo to tour Britain and Europe with The Four Tops and during this got a call to play a couple of gigs with the Jools Holland Band. On the strength of this Jools asked him to join the band and he’s been with him ever since – touring the world and featuring on many Live TV recordings, ‘Later with Jools’, ‘Jools’ Hootenanny’ and Chris Evans’ ‘Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush’ – backing artists such as Kylie Minogue, Amy Winehouse, George Harrison and Sting – amongst 100s of others.

At Glastonbury 2000 Jon experienced an epiphany when he first heard ‘Born Slippy’ by Underworld from the soundtrack of ‘Trainspotting’. It was here that he cast off his transient identity of Jonathan Bernard Scott and Jonny Boy was born. Shortly after he was introduced to his producer and sideman Theo Gordon (James Hardway/Roots Manouva). With his roots firmly in dance music, Theo created beautiful and magical backdrops to Jonny Boy’s melodies and their musical journey led to this highly original dance music collaboration ‘Welcome To Jonnyland’ – dreamy, luscious dance music which has been described as sounding like Ian Brown meets Burt Bacharach!

His second Album ‘Welcome To Jonnyland 2’ is full of Jonnyland’s trademark melody, dreaminess and lusciousness but with its rhythms, for the main part, rooted in House Music.

The Jonnyland Band Live features Theo Gordon and Sophie Alloway (Roots Manouva) on keys and drums, Dave Swift (Jools Holland) on bass and Mickey Ball (Faze Action) on ambient trumpet.

Welcome To Jonnyland!
